City of Sacramento Additional Real Property Transfer Tax
Process changes regarding payment / collection
Under Sacramento City Code ยง3.16.020 - There is imposed a tax on all transfers by deeds, or any other document by which any interests in real property, located in the City of Sacramento incorporated area, are sold and/or are granted, assigned, transferred, or conveyed to purchaser(s), or any other person(s), or entities.
The tax shall be levied at the rate of .00275 of the value of consideration. Value of consideration is deemed to be the actual purchase price, or if unavailable, the assessed value as listed on the last Sacramento County Assessors tax role. (Calculation is .00275 X purchase price)
EFFECTIVE September 1, 2013, the City of Sacramento Additional Real
Property Transfer Tax will be due and payable at the time of deed recording. The City Transfer Tax can now be collected by the Sacramento County Clerk-Recorder.
