- Instead of closing at 5 p.m., the central site located at 3636 American River Dr. #110 in Sacramento, will stay open until 8 p.m. on Friday, February 14, for marriage licenses and ceremony services. Additional fees apply for services after 5 p.m., and appointments are required.
Plan Ahead
Make an Appointment- We encourage you to make an appointment to get your marriage license. You can also arrange for a civil marriage ceremony if desired.
- Due to occupancy limitations, please do not arrive earlier than 20 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.
Apply Online
- Save time by completing the application form online before visiting our office. Your completed application is stored for up to 60 days.
Visit Our Office
- To obtain a marriage license, you and your future spouse must appear together in-person at one of our
office locations. You will need to complete the application form and present valid identification.
- Acceptable forms of I.D. must provide photo and age verification. These include:
- Driver's license
- Passport
- Military I.D.
- Resident Alien Card
90-Day Validity
- Marriage licenses are valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. If you do not get married within 90 days, the license becomes void and you must re-apply to purchase a new license.
